"IRONY IN MY PAINTINGS EXISTS IN THE FORM OF GROTESQUE AS AN ARTISTIC TOOL. BUT GENERALLY I FEEL SORRY FOR AND MY CHARACTERS AND LOVE THEM — THE INHABITANTS OF MUD LODGINGS, GRANNIES SELLING PIES AND GARLIC AT THE STATIONS ON THE ROUTE "MOSCOW—NALCHIK"."
Andrei Kolkoutine is a painter who is regularly displayed in Russia and abroad, participating in group and personal exhibitions. His style of painting combines three main sources: suprematism, icon technique and the naive style of art. Kolkoutine’s works offer to understand and feel the integrity of art and culture. His interest to Russian provinces inhabited with people-characters, and also to slow and limited lifestyle is growing to the artistic interpretation of the religious plots. Andrei Kolkoutin’s art works are in plenty of Russian museum collections such as the Tretyakov Gallery, The National Museum of Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and also in other Russian and foreign collections.
