Ivan Chuikov

1935–2020

"THE MOST IMPORTANT FOR ME WAS THE INTEGRATION OF ILLUSION WITH REALITY. THE MATERIAL THING WAS AN ILLUSION — THE WINDOW THAT INVITED TO ENTER. IT WAS POSSIBLE TO SHOW THAT WHAT WE WERE USED TO AND WHAT IS NORMAL TO TAKE FOR AN IMAGE IS NOT ADEQUATE. WHAT IS SEEN BY US IS A FICTION, ILLUSION: BUT IT’S UNCLEAR, IN WHAT MEASURE IS HAS ANY RELATION TO WHAT WE CAL REALITY."

Ivan Chuikov was an artist, sculptor, author of conceptual projects. He studied in Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov and had his first exhibition was in 1957 at the 7th World youth festival in Moscow. The artist participated in the exhibitions of unofficial art starting from 1976. Ivan Chuikov died in Keln in 2020 from covid-19.
