Marlene Spindler

1931–2003

"WHEN YOU’RE PAINTING, THERE’S NO NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO SOMETHING SPECIFIC: TO GET CARRIED AWAY WITH A COLOR, OR A LINE, ETC. SINCE IT DISTURBS FROM THE MOST IMPORTANT — FROM THE GENERAL CONDITION, FROM THE ALMIGHTY. IF YOU PAINT EVERYTHING AT ONCE, THEN YOU’LL SUCCEED. WHEN I AM CREATING A PAINTING IN A FINALIZED FORM, I DON’T SEE EVERYTHING RIGHT AWAY; TO MY MIND, THIS IS HAPPINESS — TO NOT SEE THE WORK FINALIZED, AND SPONTANEOUSLY GET SOMETHING DIFFERENT. BETTER THAN YOU’VE EVER PAINTED OR SEEN."

Marlene Spindler was an artist who took part in numerous group exhibitions starting from the 1970s. The artist was influenced by the Abstract Expressionism. Marlene Spindler's artworks are in collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, in museums, galleries and private collections in Russia, Europe and the United States.
