Pyotr Belenok

1938—1991

“I’M NOT INTERESTED IN DETAILED OBSERVATIONS ON DAILY LIFE; I AM WATCHING THE WORLD AND ITS PROBLEMS IN A NEUTRAL MANNER FROM SPACE.”

Pyotr Belenok was an artist and sculptor. At the same time with the appearance of the European Photorealism and American Hyperrealism, Pyotr Belenok started his own experiments on creating the movement which he called “Panicked Realism”. In the 1970s, Pyotr was a permanent member of apartment views as well as of foreign expositions. Famous writer Eduard Limonov said about Belenok: “His paintings distinguished from everything what existed in art”. In 2003 the artist’s exhibit was held in the UN in New York. And in 2016 the AZ Museum presented the exhibition of the series of his works called “The Foresight” taken place in the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre. Pyotr Belenok’s works are in collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the MMOMA and also of the United States’ museums.
