Vladimir Potapov

Vladimir Potapov was born in Volgograd and graduated from the P.A.Serebryakov Art Institute in Volgograd, Moscow Institute of Contemporary Art, “Independent Workshops” of the School of Contemporary Art in Moscow and the MediaArtLab School. Potapov’s works are displayed at his personal exhibitions in Russia and abroad. The artist expresses his visual style in a spatial painting genre: on the surfaces of multi-layer paintings he creates a texture by scratching out the paint. Vladimir was a nominee of the Kandinsky Prize (2014) in the category “Young artist”, winner of the festival RUSSIAN ART WEEK 2009, finalist of the international contest “Portrait now!” named after Jacob Christian Jacobsen (Denmark, 2013, 2015 yy.). The artist’s works are in collections of the Tretyakov gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków (MOCAK), the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Perm Museum of Contemporary Art (PERMM), The Kuryokhin Center in Saint Petersburg and the SPHERE Contemporary Art Foundation.
