Vadimir Weisberg

1924–1985

"WE SEE THE SUBJECT DUE TO THE IMPERFECTION OF OUR VISION. HAVING A PERFECT VISION, ONE SEES HARMONY, BUT IGNORES THE SUBJECT."

Vadimir Weisberg was a painter and art theorist. From the early 1960s, Weisberg developed a concept called "white on white". It was an attempt to express the "invisible painting" that goes back to the Suprematism of Kazimir Malevich. Vladimir Weisberg varied the concept of geometrical figures in his compositions throughout his artistic life. His works are in the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum and the Pushkin Museum.
