Alexander Nosov

1947 - 2020

IN MY POINT OF VIEW, THE FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEMS, POSED BY MALEVICH AND STERLIGOV, WILL BE ALWAYS HIGHLY RELEVANT AS THE BASIS OF CREATIVITY IS ALSO THE BASIS FOR PLASTIC ARTS IN GENERAL. NEITHER HYPER-REALISM NOR FASHION OR EMERGING ART TECHNIQUES COULD SOLVE THESE ISSUES. MALEVICH, CUBISM AND IDEAS OF THE 1920-S IN GENERAL — IN RUSSIA AND ABROAD — FORMULATED THE BASIS. EARLY OR LATE, PEOPLE WILL REVISE THEM OVER AGAIN.

Alexander Nosov is a painter, graphic artist and a student of Vladimir Sterligov. In 1975 the artist graduated from the Stieglitz Academy (Vera Mukhina Higher School of Art and Design), department of ceramics and glass. In 1968 Alexander got acquainted with Sterligov and this greatly influenced the artist’s worldview. Nosov is a member of the Union of artists of Russia, the Creative Artists’ Union of St. Petersburg, the group of artists “APRIL 17”. Alexander lived and created in Saint Petersburg, his artworks are in the State Russian Museum, The State History Museum of Saint Petersburg, in other museums and private collections of Russia and Europe.
