Francisco Infante-Arana

born 1943

"AN ARTIFACT TESTIFIES TO THE MIRACLE OF WHAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. THE MIRACLE OF THE TRANSCENDENT IS REVEALED AND REFINED THROUGH AN ARTIFACT. WHEN AN ARTIFACT EXISTS, THE MYSTERY BECOMES REAL. FROM THE RETROSPECTIVE POINT OF VIEW, I DISCERN TWO MAIN MOMENTS IN MY ARTIST DESTINY: THE EXPERIENCE OF ETERNITY, AND OF THE WORLD’S SECRET."

Francisco Infante-Arana is an artist, designer, who has begun practicing photography and creating mixed media art objects. In the 1950s-1960s he was an active participant in the Moscow underground movement. In the 1960s, Infante was one of the leaders of the kinetic art. He was a member of the "Movement" group, and during this life period the artist was engaged in geometric abstraction, created various art works, layouts, moving and luminous spatial sculpture. The artist’s career can be called as a search for a new unorthodox philosophy in art. In 1970 he organized a group of artists and engineers named "Argo". Francisco Infante-Arana created the concept of an artifact — an artificial object integrated in the natural environment. The artist is a Laureate of the State Prize of Russia (1997). Infante's works are in museums in Russia, Europe, Asia and the United States.
