Vladislav was one of the brightest and most provocative figures of the late 20th century. In his multi-disciplinary art Mamyshev-Monroe repeatedly reproduced images from the Soviet cinema and pop culture. He also wrote several philosophic treatises about the Soviet and the Russian mentality in history. The artist’s photographs of famous people feature his take on perfection that has controversial impact on the viewer — both revitalizing and horrendous. Mamyshev-Monroe’s artworks are in the State Tretyakov gallery, the Russian museum and in leading museums worldwide in private collections.
