"Letal i Shagal" Studio at AZ Museum is more than just drawing lessons — it is a space where art becomes a key for a child to explore the world and themselves. Operating within the walls of a museum dedicated to Anatoly Zverev, the studio inherits his spirit of freedom and bold experimentation. Like the master himself, for whom drawing was a direct statement and a way to capture the essence of an image, the program teaches not only technique but also the ability to see, think, and boldly bring one's ideas to life.

Each class is a harmonious journey consisting of two complementary parts. In the first, theoretical part, through lively dialogue children immerse themselves in the world of great artists, learn to "read" paintings, analyze the artist's intent, and articulate their impressions, developing visual literacy and critical thinking. The second, practical part, allows them to try a wide variety of techniques — from painting and drawing to collage and sculpture. The studio's instructors provide tools but do not impose templates, helping each child find their own way of expression while balancing skill and freedom. The main goal is to overcome the fear of the "blank page" so that creativity, as with Zverev, becomes a natural and uninhibited language for engaging with the world.

The studio's class themes are exciting journeys through the world of art. Participants draw views from windows inspired by Matisse's color and create geometric compositions in the style of Mondrian. They study the history of visual narratives — from caves to comics — and create their own graphic stories. Children explore Henry Moore's sculptural forms and model sculptures from clay, and discover the Japanese art of netsuke. Classes investigate how color conveys emotion: diving into Picasso's "blue" and "rose" periods, studying methods of expressing feelings through Van Gogh's brushstrokes and palette. Participants construct fantastical towers, explore the vibrant Tingatinga painting from Tanzania, and the whimsical world of Hundertwasser. The program includes discussions of Cubism and portraiture, landscape and silhouette, always connecting deep understanding of art with engaging creative action.

We meet griffins, sirens, nymphs, and chimeras, then invent our own mythical creature. We work with gouache.

Attending the studio gives a child the opportunity to think unconventionally, feel deeply, and create confidently, walking the path of discovery alongside the great masters.
