AZ Adrenaline. Part XI

The 11th part of the online-project «AZ Adrenaline» is dedicated to the exhibition «Zverev-GALA». The project, prepared for the three year anniversary of the AZ Museum, demonstrated marvelous facets of the talent of the art of Anatoly Zverev.

Translated from French, "Gala" means festival, celebration. And that’s exactly how Zverev-Gala performance was displayed — the whole museum space the artworks by Anatoly Zverev from the AZ Museum collection.

The exposition, unfolded on three floors of the Museum, included over 250 works of different genres — portraits, landscapes, abstractions, series of suprematist works and illustrations. The major emphasis of this exhibition was the incredible diversity of the Zverev oeuvre.

Included in the exhibition were a series of illustrations for the story of Nicolas Gogol "Dairy of a Madman", created by the artist in 1955. This was the first time when these materials were exhibited. A well-known Russian animation film director Mikhail Aldashin created an animated movie specially for this section of the exposition.

Within the framework of the publishing project of the AZ Museum, new books were prepared — the catalog of the Zverev-Gala exhibition, photo album with archive photos of Anatoly Zverev, the majority of which were published for the first time, and also Nikolay Gogol's "Dairy of a Madman" with illustrations by Zverev.

The premiere of the part XI was on June 11.
