Dear visitors! Note that the AZ Museum will be closed from April 1 due to the exposition change.
AZ Museum
AZ Museum opened up on May 27 in 2015 with the exhibition project dedicated to the biography of Anatoly Zverev and to the people around him in the course of the whole life — family, collectors, artists. The title of the exhibition "AZ - It's Just Me!" is a fragment of the Zverev’s poem: «There, behind the signature of "AZ", It's me – next to the ornament of blue cerulean…»
Unfolded on three floors, the exhibition displayed 41 works by Anatoly Zverev. First story was dedicated to the artist’s self-portraits, the second one was titled "Round and about», presenting portraits of nonconformist artists, collectors, Zverev’s family and children. Special place was organized for the "deep art" movement — portraits of the general secretary of the UN Dag Hammarskjöld, the spouse of the Swedish ambassador Anita Yarring and of the unknown staff of the French embassy. The third floor was wholly dedicated to Zverev’s lover — Oksana Aseeva. The couple had uneasy relationship. The artist painted her thousands of times and dedicated to her numerous poems. Some of them were performed by the people’s artist of Russia Vladimir Ilyin.
Modern multimedia screens which demonstrated films and video compositions, created specially for the exhibition have played a special role within the project. The film about the biography of Anatoly Zverev "AZ - It's Just Me!" was voiced by the People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Filippenko.
A series of lectures "Thursdays in the AZ Museum" that delve into the history of Zverev-portraitist, his epoch and the Moscow artistic life of the second half of the 20th century, was presented within the exhibition "AZ — It’s Just Me!".
