Dear visitors! Note that the AZ Museum will be closed from April 1 due to the exposition change.
The construction of the art object "Red Forest" created by the nonconformist artist Igor Shelkovsky is a landmark event of the Anniversary festival Archstoyanie in Nikola-Lenivets.
"Works by Igor Shelkovsky appeared in the AZ Museum collection several years ago, but straightaway have gained a special place among the artists of the sixties, fairly comprehensively presented in our collection. Throughout the life the artist worked in the tradition of the Russian Avant-guard and created unique sculptures and paintings. He repeatedly stated, how massively the perception of the object changes, when it transforms from small to gigantic and goes out to a wide-open space. Precisely that kind of metamorphosis is happening now with the "Red Forest", which will undoubtedly become the center of gravity for all the visitor of the festival "Archstoyanie" — Natalia Opaleva, CEO of the AZ Museum
The first art object of Igor Shelkovsky in Nikola-Lenivets is a construction from 8 meter high massive wooden beams, built along the bridge in a chaotic way. The bridge crosses over the ravine on the border of the forest and road. The object is colored in a bright-red, what highlights it on the background of the summer grass and black and white winter shadows.
The "Archstoyanie" Festival will take place in September 4-6, 2020
